The Old Treasury Building is widely regarded as one of Melbourne’s finest nineteenth century Renaissance Revival Buildings. Designed by 19 year old JJ Clark, this historic building now hosts exhibitions exploring the stories of the gold rush, democracy, and others that have shaped Victoria. Explore the original gold vaults and the fascinating Melbourne Panorama display.

Accessibility information

Accessible entrance is the middle door at the rear of the building. Internally there is a lift to visit the museum (located on the round floor and basement). An accessible bathroom is located at the level of entry.

Due to heritage restrictions, the internal lift cannot accommodate large mobility scooters.
